Firefly 2021
Sunday, September 26, 2021

Members of Station 54 banded together with other fire and EMS providers from throughout the state to support the firefly festival over the four day period.  There were several foot patrols to respond into the sea of concert goers during music sets.  Other resources deployed where Gators (UTVs) set up to transport the sick or injured from areas that a normal ambulance can not operate. These Gators transported those concert goers that became ill or over indulged to medical tents set inside tbe festival areas, where they could be evaluated by nurses to deteremine if they need treatment at the emergency department of Bayhealth Kent Campus.  Numerous stations provided ambulances to transport those needing higher medical care.  There was also fire coverage provided by crews on gators equipt with firefighting gear that could respond into the festival area that a normal engine will not fit into.  There was an engine covering on both sides of the route one overpass to fires in the camping areas.  The fire and ems crews handled well over 100 calls.
