Boat Fire in the Delaware Bay

Sussex County Fireboard was notified by the USCG of a vessel on fire, orgininally thought to be a ferry from Cape May.  Marine 82, requested fire boats from 89. 57 to respond to remove passengers.  The Coast Guard was also responding.  There was no issue with the ferry coming out of Cape May,  The responding Delaware vessels responded approxiamately 15 nautical miles east of South Bowers, on the NJ side of the shipping channel. Marine 82 advised the vessel was a 36ft large pleasure craft.  54 Marine 1 was underway and was cancelled by Marine 82.  The fire was extinquished before Marine 82s arrival by Townbank Fire Department's Marine 61-1.    There were two people on board who were retrieved from the water by the USCG.
