54-4 Back in Service in LittleCreek
Saturday, May 1, 2021

Back in December of last year at approx 0322, Citizens Hose Co Station 44 was operating at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 1 near exit 114.  They were on scene of a vehicle that slid off the roadway after an overpass became icy.

At 0341 While crews were checking the car that was off the roadway 44-4 was parked blocking the right  lane,  the lane the responders were using to access the vehicle.  Shortly after taking up the blocking position a car traveling southbound at approximately 70 mph struck the rear of 44-4.  There was only the Driver/Operator in the engine at the time and was not injured.  The female operator of the car was trapped and had to be extricated from her car.  Extrication took almost 15 minutes.  44-4 was out of service for substantial damage to the rear running board, roll up doors on the left and rear sides and under carriage.  44-4 was placed back in service May 1st and 54-4 returned to duty as our reserve engine.
