Fatal Fire in Little Creek

On Sunday February 6, 2022 at 12:11 hours The Kent County 911 Center began to receive calls about a House Fire as a Dover Police Officer was clearing another emergency on the edge of the City and noticed smoke and contacted dispatch he was responding to Assist. At 12:12 Hours Little Creek Fire Company, Dover Fire Dept, Leipsic Fire Company, Magnolia Fire Company, Camden Wyoming Fire Co and Dover Air Force Base Fire Department and Kent County Department of Public Safety EMS were dispatched to a Structure Fire in the 300 Block of Main St Little Creek. Just prior to the dispatch members inside the Little Creek Fire House noticed the fire and the on duty crew responded immediately. Crews encountered a 2 story home on fire with heavy fire from the 1st floor. A resident who jumped from the 2nd floor on arrival of the firefighters advised that a child was trapped on the 2nd floor. As that person was being treated by a Firefighter and Dover Police Officer. A Little Creek Fire Fighter entered the 2nd floor window and located and removed child. Who was transferred to EMS. Firefighters from Little Creek, Dover, Leipsic and Camden Wyoming located 2 other victims and removed them from the home and turned over to EMS. A total of 5 victims were transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus. Later the 9 year old female, and 42 year old female eventually succumbed to the injuries sustained in the fire. Others remain in critiical condition. Dover Police Officers on scene coordinated the escort of the ambulances to the Hospital. It took firefighter’s a little over an hour to bring the fire under control. 82 Firefighter’s, from Little Creek, Dover, Dover AFB, Leipsic, Camden Wyoming, Magnolia Fire companies, Saint Francis EMS, Dover Police and Kent County Department of Public Safety responded.
